About IMCG

What is Insight Meditation Community of Georgia?

Insight Meditation Community of Georgia (IMCG) is a community of people in Georgia that practice and study Buddhist teachings found in the Pali Canon. The Pali Canon (Majjhima Nikaya, Digha Nikaya, Samyutta Nikaya and Anguttara Nikaya) is Buddhist scripture, called suttas or sutras, from the Theravadan (primarily out of Southeast Asia) school of Buddhism. In other words, these are suttas attributed to early Buddhism. IMCG hosts meditation retreats and a book club.  Our guiding dharma teacher is Thanissara (www.dharmagiri.org).

If you’re looking for a group of people to meditate with, groups meet on Monday from 7 – 9 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Atlanta, 1911 Cliff Valley Way, NE, Atlanta and on Wednesdays in Sandy Springs. For more information about their group, visit http://www.sandyspringsinsightmeditation.org.

Our next retreat, co-hosted with Red Clay Sangha, is May 2 – 5 with dharma teacher Lisa Ernst.  For details visit http://www.redclaysangha.org.

We hope to connect with you in person.
